Verang LLC is a small business based in Reston, Virginia with a primary focus on migrating legacy systems to modern platforms using an automated approach. Verang was founded by Trevor Veary, a pioneer in automated legacy migration, and has been in business since December 2013. Trevor and Verang’s staff, however were key personnel at another legacy modernization company, Zulu Software, which was also founded by Trevor.
All of Verang’s software tools are written in-house by our experienced team of modernization experts. Our team has worked on numerous IT modernization projects and have successfully completed every modernization project to the customer’s satisfaction.
Before Trevor Veary founded Verang, he was the CEO and founder of another IT modernization software company called Zulu Software. Most of Verang’s employees previously worked at Zulu Software before it was acquired. Zulu started as a company that specialized in Natural/Adabas systems modernization and as Zulu grew, it branched out into COBOL and other legacy language migrations. Zulu Software was one of the first IT companies to use an automated approach to legacy system migrations. This meant that IT modernization projects that would originally take years to hand-code the translation of the legacy language to the target language now only took months, even weeks to complete. All the original software tools that Zulu used to automate the modernization process were written by Trevor. Notable clients of Zulu, during Trevor Veary’s tenure as CEO, were Tulsa County, King County Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention, U.S. companies, and various international companies from around the world including Singapore, Denmark, and Australia.
Shortly after Zulu Software was acquired, Trevor Veary left the company to start Verang LLC. The majority of the remaining senior technical team from Zulu Software followed and soon joined Trevor at Verang. Verang now retains the technical IT modernization experts who built Zulu Software into a successful multimillion dollar company.

Zulu Software was one of the first IT companies to use an automated approach to legacy system migrations. This meant that IT modernization projects that would originally take years even decades to hand-code old programming languages to a more modern language, not to mention debugging and testing, could now be done in a matter of months even weeks. All the original software that automated these processes were written by the founder and CEO of Zulu, Trevor Veary. Zulu specialized primarily in Natural and Cobol on Adabas mainframe legacy system migration and grew into one of the world’s leading IT migration companies with millions of dollars in revenue. Notable clients of Zulu were the U.S. Department of Energy, the Department of Justice, as well as international companies around the world including Singapore, Denmark and Australia. Zulu Software became a subsidiary of Blue Phoenix in 2009. When Blue Phoenix merged, Zulu Software was merged into ModernSystems and shortly thereafter Trevor Veary left the company to go found VERANG LLC. Shortly after, the remaining senior technical team from Zulu Software left to join Trevor Veary at VERANG.
